DANIELLE FREIRE ANNOUNCES 100% GRASSROOTS CANDIDACY POWERED BY COMMUNITY MEMBERS FOR JERSEY CITY WARD D
Danielle Freire (pronounced FREY-REH so roll your r's twice!) is a born and raised Jersey City Heights resident with experience raising money for social justice-oriented missions. From housing, education, mass incarceration, to environmental justice, Danielle has dedicated her career to ensuring success for nonprofit missions she cares about. She's privileged to make a decision to run for City Council in her hometown. Freire for City Council is a 100 percent grassroots campaign and dedicated to highlighting the power we have as a community. Locally sourced, Freire for City Council is committed to bringing Heights residents and lovers of Jersey City together to make Jersey City a place where all residents can thrive. Let's REALLY make it ours, don't you think?
Remember that no one succeeds alone. Never walk alone in your future paths.
- Sonia Sotomayor
Every Jersey City resident has the right to live peacefully. Whether you’re old or new to Jersey City Heights, we all deserve the chance to live in an environment where we are seen, valued, heard, and safe. Representation on the city council level means taking a stand for our values. What are our values? Through my campaign run, we have the opportunity to imagine the best community for ourselves, one that is grounded in love and justice for all of our neighbors. Let’s dream big and take this blueprint to the finish line in November.

Decisions are being made on our behalf without clear understanding of the policies that are shaping our futures. Our campaign will promote a bottom-up approach to policy and decision-making where people, not politics, are at the center. This means demanding transparency from our city leaders and creating a path for residents to have a real say. By empowering our community to see the agency we have to participate in local government, we will create a Ward D that works for all.

As we prepare to be the biggest city in the state, we have to assess our ability to serve the most basic needs of current residents, especially those being most directly impacted by high rent and displacement. This means naming the systemic barriers to justice and equity for our neighbors. Freire for City Council's platform issues anchor on basic human rights- housing for all, education and the opportunity to learn and thrive, and safety through walkable, clean, and friendly streets. All of these elements contribute to a resilient Heights community.

The future is ahead of us and we need to care about it. Freire for City Council seeks to foster an innovative environment for all Heights members to contribute their wisdom, skills and love for their neighborhood. By engaging with you, the people of the Heights, we can define common goals and work towards collaborative solutions. This means bridging the gap between long-time residents and new neighbors, incorporating all voices, sharing ideas, and deepening our community bond.
